Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has vowed to prove his case in court following the directive by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji to charge him with corruption.
Through a press statement Sonko has said that he is confident and ready adding that the allegations are just choreographed lies by the DPP and EACC.
“I have read word by word the statement from the DPP that details reasons for my arrest and nothing gives me more confidence than leafing through it, knowing very well we have the facts to dismantle this choreographed lies.” Sonko said
The Governor added that the investigations are just shallow work from the EACC and its accomplices and the real story will be unraveled in court.
He has also rubbished claims by the EACC that he was trying to run away calling it political games and shall not be intimidated in his quest for justice that puts EACC on the spot over land grabbing.
Sonko added that he was on his way to Mombasa and there was no reason for him to run away terming himself as a moving Kenyan who is always on the move doing good for the people.
“I was on my way to Mombasa to attend and close a workshop which was attended by my people.” He said
Additionally Sonko has ordered for immediate investigations in to the collapsed six storey building in Tassia that has killed at least 2 people with 17 people rescued so far.
The collapse has been instigated to be caused by the ongoing heavy rains and claims that the building was built on a swampy area.
Sonko is facing graft allegations amounting to Sh357million and is accused alongside several county employees.
