Kenya’s mega dam, Masinga Dam is on the brink of overflowing after filling its capacity.
Water and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary Simon Chelugui issued a warning to residents living in areas close to Masinga Dam to move to safer grounds stating that the dam may break by Sunday, December 8.
“The huge dam, that sinks 1.8 Kilometers is deeper than Lake Naivasha and incase of any accident, the damage would span across 3 whole counties” cited an anonymous analyst.
The torrential floods have so far claimed over 130 people, including the recent collapse of a Tasia estate building, leaving a trail of destruction and suffering among Kenyans.
