Truck drivers who overload and cause road wear and tear have been warned by the Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA) and the County Government of Migori.
Speaking at the annual truck drivers’ meeting in Migori on Friday, KENHA Western manager Maurice Ademba called for collaboration with the county government to protect the region’s road network and legislation to impose punitive fines on those who violate the regulations.
Senior superintendent officer John Gichohi encouraged truck drivers to form saccos to help instill discipline.
“Saccos are good for self-regulation and as a platform for engaging authorities,” he said.
