Three boys are nursing serious leg burns after a pastor burnt their legs for allegedly stealing rock cakes worth Ksh. 80 in Kabarnet, Baringo County.

The minors are being treated at the Baringo County Referral Hospital, two of whom are in secondary school and one in primary school.

Pastor Rashid Nduma of Deliverance Church is said to have caught one of the youths stealing his cakes from a bakery in the Kaptimbor shopping area on Tuesday night.

They then began burning the boy’s feet in the bakery oven with the assistance of two other bakery employees.

The pastor is said to have tortured the boy to coerce him to name his accomplices in the alleged cake theft.

The preacher and his gang rushed to the homes of the exposed friends, woke them up, and whisked them away to the bakery, where they burned their legs.

According to the victim, his legs were placed in a hot oven. To save himself from the agony, he named his two friends, whom he claims are innocent.

The rogue pastor is then said to have dumped the boys in an open area where they spent the night in the cold as they couldn’t walk.

It took the help of Good Samaritans who were awakened by the boys’ piercing wails, to rescue and took them to the hospital.

Two people were arrested, including the pastor, and booked at Kabarnet police station, where two more suspects escaped and are being pursued.

The two are scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
