Deputy President Kithure Kindiki is scheduled to visit Kitui and Makueni counties today as part of a one-day economic empowerment tour across the Kamba region.

According to his official itinerary, Kindiki will make stops in Zombe, located in Kitui East Constituency, and Mukuyuni, in Kaiti Constituency of Makueni County. The tour is aimed at engaging local communities on economic development initiatives and the government’s broader empowerment agenda.

The Deputy President’s visit to Ukambani comes a day after he presided over the 2025 National Macadamia Conference at Embu University Grounds in Embu County. During the conference, Kindiki reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to boosting local value addition in the macadamia sector by curbing the export of raw nuts.

“The government is implementing a strict policy to discourage the export of raw macadamia. This sector has the potential to earn Kenya over Ksh 10 billion annually and create up to 30,000 jobs,” said Kindiki.

He also pledged enhanced enforcement of regulations and improved governance to protect the quality and global reputation of Kenyan agricultural products.

The Deputy President’s back-to-back visits underscore the administration’s continued focus on strengthening agricultural productivity and fostering grassroots economic growth across Kenya’s regions.

More updates on the Ukambani tour are expected as the day progresses.
