Detectives in Kangema Sub-County have dismantled a kidnapping syndicate after arresting four suspects in a dramatic raid in Kiriaini.

The suspects, identified as John Thuo Maina, Rose Wangari Kinyua, Peter Gathiru Kinuthia, and Nancy Wamaitha Njoki, were cornered while allegedly plotting their next abduction.

Their arrest comes in the wake of an incident in which they abducted a woman and forced her to withdraw Sh585,000 from her bank account to secure her release.

According to police, the operation was intelligence-led, with sleuths moving in swiftly to apprehend the gang before they could strike again. A Toyota Corolla, registration number KBJ 419S, believed to have been their getaway car in several kidnappings, was seized and is being held as evidence.

The four suspects are currently in custody undergoing interrogation and will be arraigned in court in the coming days. Meanwhile, detectives have launched further investigations to track down additional accomplices linked to the criminal ring.

Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and continue providing information that could help in dismantling organized criminal networks in the region.
