Diani Reef was awarded the status and thus cementing the hotel based in Kwale county’s efforts that has seen it getting recognition around the world for its incredible hospitality services.
Diani Reef Beach Resort & Spa Managing Director, Bobby Kamani told Uzalendo News that the prestigious award comes at a time when the world and global tourism including Kenyan hospitality is seeing unprecedented times caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We all know that the world and the tourism sector in generally is going through turbulent times but I would like to thank our voters who have remained loyal to us during these difficult times,” he said in a Statement.
Mr Kamani said that the award is a true statement to hospitality in Kenya and the award signals the winning services the beach hotel has been offering.
“We are honored to receive this award which is a true testament to hospitality in Kenya and the award winning service that Diani Reef has come to be so well known for. We humbly accept this award as we strive to continuously improve the service and the product that we offer to our new guests and to our repeat guests,” said Mr Kamani. ]

He also dedicated the award to his team at the hotel that worked hard and around tough times to excel and propel the hotel to greater heights.
“Moreover, we thank the Diani Reef team that has continued to excel in turbulent times and much of these efforts have borne fruits,” he said.
This is not the first time that the Kwale based hotel has won international accolades in the hotel sector.
In 2018, Diani Reef was chosen as Africa’s Leading Beach Resort 2018 again by the World Travel Awards.
The 2018 awards were conducted at the Durban International Convention Centre in South Africa where Diani beat other world class hotels like Diamonds La Gemma dell’Est, of Zanzibar, Tanzania which had won the award in 2016 and 2017 respectively.
Again the hotel has consecutively won this award in 2015 and 2010 because of its excellent service in hospitality.
In March last year, Diani Reef joined the Africa Travel and Tourism Association (ATTA) to become a certified official member.

Mr Kamani said joining ATTA will enhance exposure of Diani Reef whilst attracting more international tourists, thereby allowing the hotel to foster new relations with emerging markets whilst nurturing existing relations with traditional markets:
“As Diani Reef, we believe that this a good strategy toward connecting to one of the most prominent international pool of networks for tourists. This will help us increase our sales significantly but also put our hotel on the global map for tourists to visit.”
“Kenya has always been a favorite destination for tourists because of the weather, strategic location, safari offerings and the mixture of flora, fauna and the ocean. But what makes Diani different is the pristine white beaches. For five years in a row, Diani Beach has been voted as “Africa’s Leading Beach Destination,” said Mr Kamani.
