Kenyan DJ and music curator DJ Grauchi has been selected by Apple Music to represent Nairobi in its newly launched Sounds of Africa campaign, a global initiative celebrating African music and culture during Africa Month 2025.
The campaign spotlights five influential African music hubs, Nairobi, Dar es Salaam, Accra, Lagos, and Johannesburg, through exclusive DJ mixes and curated playlists that showcase each city’s unique sonic identity.
“I’m excited to share my exclusive The Sounds of Nairobi DJ Mix that I produced for Apple Music,” Grauchi announced, expressing pride in being part of the celebration of African music.
DJ Grauchi joins a distinguished lineup of African DJs, including DJ Vasley (Dar es Salaam), AD DJ (Accra), Spaceship Billy (Lagos), and DJ PH (Johannesburg), each producing mixes that reflect the rich musical cultures of their cities.
In addition to the DJ sets, The Sounds of Africa features exclusive playlists curated by top artists, media personalities, and industry figures from each city. Representing Nairobi alongside Grauchi is Kenyan RnB artist Xenia Manasseh, who also helped curate the city’s playlist.
“Excited to have helped curate The Sounds of Nairobi playlist… no place like Nairobi,” Xenia shared.
Apple Music stated that the campaign aims to “capture the diverse sonic landscapes that define African music today.”
Throughout May, the curators will appear on Africa Now Radio with Nandi Madida in a series of special episodes, each dedicated to one of the five featured cities, including exclusive interviews with their representatives.
