Residents of Dongo Kundu in Kwale are demanding the arrest of land grabbers said to have been compensated in an ongoing road project.
They have now appealed to President Uhuru Kenyatta to intervene in the row which they claim is getting out of hand. The residents held a demonstration on Monday to press for the arrest of the grabbers. The project is domiciled in Magarini and Kinango constituencies.
They accused the National Lznd Commision(NLC) of applying double standards. The area has been acquired by the Government for the construction of a bridge across the Indian Ocean to aid movement of vehicles.
It was launched by President Uhuru Kenyatta in October 2019. The residents claim that those who purchased land in the area are being favored. They claim that private land grabbers have already been paid…and at inflated rates.
