Murang’a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria has declared that no political meetings will be held without his express approval.
Iria, who issued his directive in a document named ‘Murang’a County declaration of 05/10/2020’, said that only the President will be exempted.
He went on to further warn that any fundraisers will be officiated by himself, and/or his Senator Irungu Kang’ata.
“All political meetings, fundraisers involving outsiders shall have one uniform master of ceremony who will be Governor Mwangi Wa Iria, and in his absence, Senator Irungu Kang’ata or Woman representative Sabina Chege.”
The future presidential hopeful cited illicit relations between legislators Ndindi Nyoro and their rivals have a history of violence in Murang’a.
“There is a history of political violence by two members of Parliament from Murang’a County, Hon Ndindi Nyoro and Hon Alice Wahome. Henceforth, All development projects by the National Government shall be conducted in one central office that shall be opened in Kandara Constituency and Kiharu Constituency respectively by Governor Mwangi Wa Iria,” read the declaration.
The remarks come hardly a day after violence rocked the Kenol area in Murang’a county, where Deputy President William Ruto was invited to a church fundraiser.
Two people died in the violent clashes.
Leaders; Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro and his counterpart were summoned by the DCI, to assist police officers in investigations regarding the planned violence.
