Donnarumma Agrees Personal Terms with Manchester City

Manchester City have reached an agreement on personal terms with Gianluigi Donnarumma as the Italian goalkeeper edges closer to leaving Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

The 25-year-old Italy captain, who helped PSG secure their first Champions League title last season, is no longer in Luis Enrique’s plans following the French club’s €55 million signing of Lille shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Donnarumma has shaken hands on a deal with City and is eager to work under Pep Guardiola. However, negotiations between City and PSG remain ongoing, with the French champions seeking close to €50 million. The fee is expected to be lower.

City’s ability to complete the deal hinges on the future of Ederson. The Brazilian goalkeeper, in the final year of his Etihad contract, is valued at around €35m but has yet to attract a firm bid. Galatasaray showed initial interest, tabling an offer of €10m that was swiftly rejected, and later turned attention to Porto’s Diogo Costa. Discussions with the Turkish giants have also included defender Manuel Akanji, with a £15m proposal under consideration.

Ederson’s departure is regarded as essential before City can finalise Donnarumma’s arrival, though optimism remains that a breakthrough will be achieved before the transfer deadline.

Donnarumma, who joined PSG on a free transfer from AC Milan in 2021, has made over 100 appearances for the French champions. He appeared visibly emotional as he waved goodbye to supporters at the Parc des Princes on Friday, signalling his readiness for a new chapter.

With only days left in the window, all eyes will be on whether City can push through the Ederson deal to unlock Donnarumma’s high-profile move to the Premier League.
