AIC Masosa Mixed Senior School was torched on Wednesday, June 3, adding to the string of fires and unrest that have been recorded in the country in recent days.

Preliminary reports indicate that the students set the girls’ dormitories on fire in protest over an alleged lack of a midterm break.
Emergency response teams, the school administration, local leaders, and members of the community swiftly rushed to the school to contain the fire and ensure the safety of learners.

“The situation is under control, and all students remain secure within the school premises,” the school administration announced, reassuring anxious parents and guardians. Officials confirmed the fire was contained to a single building, successfully sparing the institution’s two other dormitories.
The incident sparked fury among Kenyans, who condemned the surging cases and urged the government to take urgent action.
