Chief Justice Martha Koome presided over the swearing-in ceremony of the new Deputy Inspector-General, Kenya Police Service, Douglas Kirocho Kanja, at the Supreme Court building.
During the swearing-in Ceremony, CJ. Koome said that the community and public should cooperate with the police to end criminality.
The CJ also urged the new DIG to always be guided by his oath of office.
“The oath that you have taken today should guide you in your day-to-day work” urged CJ Koome.
She also promised total cooperation between the National Police Service and the Judiciary.
“Judiciary will continue to cooperate with the Police for there is no way the criminal justice system will succeed in curbing criminality unless there is cooperation with the police” said the CJ.
President William Ruto named Douglas Kirocho Kanja as the new Deputy Inspector General of Police, Kenya Police Service taking over Edward Mbugua who left the service after reaching the mandatory retirement age.
