Deputy President William Ruto took time out of his schedule to visit Dennis Itumbi, an injured blogger.

Last Friday morning, the blogger, who is also Ruto’s Digital Strategist, was brought to the hospital.

Itumbi was kidnapped on Thursday and beaten up before being left naked on the side of the road in Kasarani’s Lucky Summer neighborhood.

He was discovered by a taxi driver with injuries all over his body.

Itumbi was transported to Uhai Neema hospital in Kasarani for treatment and was put on a drip before being transferred to Nairobi West.

He was admitted to the intensive care unit after experiencing respiratory complications.

Martin Gitau and Josiah Murigu, two of his friends who had visited him at the Nairobi West Hospital, said he had been admitted to the intensive care unit due to respiratory problems.

On various occasions, the outspoken writer has taken aim at key government leaders.

The incident is being investigated, according to police spokesman Bruno Shioso.

“We urge members of the public to have patience during the investigation and refrain from conjecture,” Shioso added.
