Ethics and anti-corruption commission has opened an inquiry on claims of unethical conduct by Education Minister George Magoha.
Mr Magoha was filmed last week publicly giving a senior education official a dressing down, including calling him “stupid”.
The incident happened when the minister was inspecting a primary school in the Uasin Gichu county.
The anti-corruption commission has summoned the education official, Gitonga Mbaka, to record a statement over the incident.
Mr Mbaka, who is due for retirement in four months, told local media that he had since “forgiven the minister” and was concentrating on his public service.
Critics had faulted the minister for his conduct, but Mr Magoha – in a response said he did what he had to do to ensure quality education for children.
He said regional education directors need to perform their duties of inspecting schools.
The ethics commission has a mandate to combat unethical conduct among public servants.
The slur may contravene the chapter 6 of Kenyan constitution on integrity and how a public officer is to conduct himself.
Pressure has been mounting on the CS to resign and apologize but he remains adamant.
The latest move that would have appeased the public rage was the stripping of Magoha of human resource powers by the public service commission a move that Magoha has vehemently opposed and dictates that only the appointing authority president Uhuru has such powers.
