The Nairobi Eastern Bypass Road dualling project has reached 45 percent completion, from the 75 Roundabout to Ruiru, Kiambu Junction.
Five bridges, drainage, street lighting, slope protection, and other road furniture and amenities are included in the 27-kilometer project.
The road is being expanded by China Communication Construction Company Limited. CCCC has been hired to work on a number of important infrastructure projects across the country.
Traffic congestion during the construction process has been reported in congested areas such as City Cabanas, Pipeline, Utawala, and Ruiru.

On the other hand, the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has reiterated that traffic marshalls are in control and are working with Police officers to ensure smooth traffic flow.
Traders claim that the expansion will boost trade and investment in nearby towns like Utawala, Ruai, and Ruiru.
Upon the commissioning of the key road, land prices shot up, leading to the rise of satellite towns stretching along the 28km road.
The Eastern Bypass connects Nairobi & Kiambu Counties and is expected to be complete by the end of the year.

The road will provide efficient transport for commuters and facilitate trade of perishable goods along the route following reduced traffic.
