Education PS Bitok Confirms Interdiction Plans for Alliance Girls Teacher Accused of Sexual Abuse

Basic Education Principal Secretary Dr. Julius Bitok has confirmed plans to interdict and prosecute a teacher from Alliance Girls High School accused of grooming and sexually abusing students.

Speaking on Thursday during a Thanksgiving event at Kapkoros Barngetuny Secondary School in Nandi County, PS Bitok revealed that the Ministry of Education is working with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and law enforcement to ensure swift disciplinary and legal action.

“That teacher is going to be punished. We have talked to TSC and all the other stakeholders to ensure that he is arrested,” Bitok stated firmly.

His comments come in the wake of an explosive investigation by Africa Uncensored, which exposed longstanding allegations against the teacher, who reportedly used his role as Christian Union patron to groom students. The exposé, based on testimonies from more than two dozen former students and staff, accused the teacher of leveraging his spiritual influence to exploit girls, with some complaints dating back to 2018 and 2021, both allegedly ignored by the institution.

PS Bitok condemned the conduct as unacceptable and reiterated the government’s commitment to student safety. “We are not going to condone any behaviour where teachers or any other stakeholder in schools take advantage of our children. Such behaviour will not be tolerated,” he said.

He also warned that any similar conduct in other institutions would attract swift and severe consequences. “It is not only in Alliance. Even in any other school in the country, that behaviour must stop forthwith,” he emphasized.

The scandal has sparked widespread outrage, with alumni staging protests outside the school, demanding accountability and justice. The Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA Kenya) described the revelations as “shocking,” calling for thorough investigations, mandatory gender-based violence policies in schools, and the establishment of safe reporting channels for students.

The Ministry has assured the public of transparency and zero tolerance for abuse within learning institutions.
