President Ruto Confirms El Nino ‘Missed’ Kenya; Normal Short Rains To Continue

Kenyan President William Ruto has confirmed that the country will not experience El-Nino rains as predicted by the Kenya Meteorological Department.

Instead, the department has scaled down the forecast to short rains, which will benefit the agricultural sector and allow farmers to produce more food to cushion the country’s food basket.

“You see the department has now said there will be no El-Nino, we will only have significant rains, which will get our farms to produce more,” Ruto said.

The weatherman had warned of El Nino hitting the country from mid-October to December.

Ruto also praised the prayers for rains he conducted at the Nyayo National stadium in February, which have led to prolonged rains and increased agricultural production.

“There are those who criticised us when we prayed for rains at Nyayo stadium. They said a whole president is praying for rain. Now see, we have more rains than we have had in four years, that is God’s doing,”

He vowed to invest more resources and effort in agriculture and food production to ensure food security.

Ruto also criticized opposition Azimio la Umoja for leading street protests over high living costs, stating that “mandamano won’t put food on the table.”

“I keep saying maandamano won’t put food on the table. If people have to demonstrate, then let them demonstrate in the farms to produce more food,”
