Eldoret Man Found Guilty Of Attempting To Kill His Wife

An Eldoret court has found Godfrey Keter Kipkoech who is accused of attempting to kill his wife guilty of attempted murder.

The victim, who testified under witness protection, revealed that the accused was her estranged husband but parted ways after a series of domestic violence.

According to the Court, the prosecution proved their case beyond any reasonable doubt after presenting 6 witnesses in the case who gave corroborating testimony of the crime.

Senior Principal Magistrate Petet Areri heard that on the fateful day, the accused armed with a machete rode his motorcycle to Chepkoilel Centre in Moiben sub-County, to wait for his wife with the intention of killing her.

Upon her arrival, he viciously attacked her with the machete, causing multiple wounds to her head.

The accused then attempted to cut her neck, but she shielded herself with her hands, resulting in severe injuries to her fingers.

The prosecution emphasized that the attack had been pre-meditated and carried out with the intention of causing her death.

The convict will be sentenced on November 17, 2023.
