Locals and passersby using the Nairobi-Mai Mahiu Road were treated to free supplies as fellow Kenyans grappled with a high cost of living characterised by increased prices in essential commodities.
This came after a truck ferrying foodstuffs lost control and rammed the sides of a concrete barrier on Mai Mahiu – Rironi escarpment.
As a result, it broke the mounting pin.
The container and the trailer rolled several times all the way downhill.
The accident has led to blockage of both traffic lanes.
Recovery is underway to tow the cabin off the carriageway.
Given the confusion witnessed on the road, police focused on restoring the traffic to order.
Motorists plying the road have been sought to use other alternatives to avoid traffic snarl ups.
