Eldoret Police Closing In On Edwin Chiloba Killers

Police are following up on vital leads in the death of LGBTQ activist Edwin Chiloba.

Eldoret police are currently investigating vital leads to identify those responsible for the brutal murder of model and LGBTQ activist Edwin Chiloba on Wednesday.

DCI Peter Kimulwo of Uasin Gishu said police are also attempting to correctly identify Chiloba’s body, which is currently being kept at the Moi Referral mortuary.

“So far, we’re waiting for family members to come out so they can identify the deceased,” Kimulwo remarked.

He stated that DCIO officers were following vital leads that might result in arrests.

The house where the dead lived has been identified by police, although it remains unclear how he died.

“We’ll tie up some of the information we have, which may lead to arrests,” Kimulwo said.

Chiloba’s body was discovered in a steel box near the Kipenyo-Kaptinga road in Kapsaret, Uasin Gishu.

According to police, an unidentified vehicle was witnessed dropping the metal box in the area by a Bodaboda rider who happened to be travelling by at the time.

The incident was reported to police officers stationed at a nearby roadblock. Officers left their position and hurried to the situation.

When the box was opened, a rotting body of a man clothed in female clothing was discovered therein.

It was later established that the deceased was Eldoret-based fashion designer Chiloba.

The body was taken to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital awaiting post-mortem to establish the cause of death as investigations start.

Chiloba was a well-known LGBTQ champion in the community.
