Electric Pole Falls On Mwea Resident

Aman died in Mwea, Kirinyaga County after an electric pole fell on him.

According to residents, the man was part of a group of people who were erecting the power pole.

“He was called to assist in erecting the pole for Ksh.50 shillings only for the pole to fall on him,” Josphat Muchiri, a resident, said.

Residents reported the incident to Mutithi police officers and the area chief, while also complaining about power connectivity.

Kenya Power Regional Manager Kipkorir Ruto, on the other hand, stated that the power line’s erection was illegal because it had not been approved by their office.

“We have been carrying out a campaign seeking to weed out illegal connections in this region. It is unfortunate that this still happens,” he added.

Wilson Koskei, the police commander of Mwea-West Sub-county, stated that investigations are still ongoing.

The deceased’s body has been taken to Kerugoya mortuary for a postmortem examination.
