A police reinforcement has been sent to a village in Elgeyo Marakwet where villagers raided and looted a forest office while looking for missing sheep.
According to police, one villager was found dead after a fight between locals and forest rangers at the Elgeyo forest office on Tuesday afternoon.
The villagers were searching for missing sheep that had been killed by wild animals.
They looted the station, prompting the rangers on duty to open fire.
Police said they later discovered one man dead while carrying a power saw and 22 sheep carcasses in the area.
More officials have been dispatched to quell the unrest.
