Thieves Break Into Anyang Nyongo’s Home

According to Nyanza regional police commander Karanja Muiruri, the incident is being investigated, and it could be an inside job.

Kisumu police have launched an investigation after suspected burglars broke into Kisumu governor Anyang’ Nyong’o’s home on Tuesday night.

The incident occurred at his rural home in Ratta village, Seme sub-county, where the robbers made away with assorted clothes and foodstuff.

According to Nyanza regional police commander Karanja Muiruri, the incident is being investigated, and it could be an inside job.

At the time of the raid, it is not clear whether Nyong’o was at his house.

Karanja added that the matter was recorded by Nyong’o’s farm manager.

Karanja says police will take statements from persons within the governor’s home, neighbours as well as officers guarding the home.

“A team of officers has visited the scene. We suspect it could be an inside job,” said the officer.

The governor and his family were not at home at the time of the incident.

The family was said to be at their other home in Kisumu’s Milimani Estate.

On a daily basis, two police officers guard the governor’s rural home.
