Eliud Owalo, the Cabinet Secretary for ICT and the Digital Economy, has opened the Induction Workshop for Members of County Executive Committees in charge of ICT in the 47 counties.
The workshop intends to coordinate Kenya’s ICT strategy between the National Government and the Devolved Governments for an empowered and digitalized nation.
The introduction of free public Wi-Fi, the development of a supportive legal, policy, and regulatory framework for the ICT sector, as well as the growth of the national fibre optic network were also on the agenda.
To facilitate access to digital services and boost trade, discussions also touched on the national addressing system and a digital personal identification.
