Embrace girl child education,” Ganze MPs Mwambire says as he launch girl only school in Bamba

Ganze MP Teddy Mwambire has called on parents to embrace and take the education of their girls with seriousness it deserves in order to reduce the number of teen mothers and the plight of girl child in Kilifi County.

Speaking in Chapungu sub-location, in Ganze, Kilifi County during the ground breaking ceremony for Bamba girls Secondary School, Mr Mwambire said that the region has among its challenges recorded a big number of girls dropping out of school either after due to early pregnancy or after they are married off.

“Today I have oofficiated the ground-breaking of the Bamba Girls Secondary School at Mbogolo Village in Chapungu sub-location in Bamba.

This will be the first Girls Secondary School in the zone which has 47 public primary schools and five private primary schools. It will also mark as the third girls’ secondary school in the constituency.

But while we are doing these efforts, the ball should also be taken to the parents to make sure that we have a fair play. You have to make sure that our girls go to school and learn. As a parent, you are the first guardian of your girl to make sure that she does not mess up with their lives,” he said.

He said that with the region battling education challenges for the girls, the school which is being built at a cost of sh6 million in its first phase is the only solution available at the moment.

“We have been battling the challenges of having our girls becoming young mothers at a tender ager. But now we want to bring this to an end. The availability of this girl only school here is going to change that situation. I want to challenge the parents to take the girl child education seriously and that is my focus for now,” said Mr Mwambire.

The legislator who also officiated the ground-breaking of a single state of the art laboratory at Sosoni Secondary School in Jaribuni Ward said that for Ganze to improve on its education output, everyone including the parents, teachers, the students and leaders should come together and address their issues with the much-needed efforts.

Among those present were area MCA Christopher Mwambire and Fikirini Jacobs who is a student head at Pwani University.

The MP said all the two projects should be completed by the end of May so that the community can immediately start using them.

“I want to challenge the contractors and the Project Management Committees (PMC) to make sure that all the project meet their deadline.

We don’t want a scenario where projects are not completed on time. I would also like to convey my gratitude to the people of Ganze constituency for their patience while we were trying to keep things in order and when we faced some challenges. Thank God now we are ready to move on,” he said.

Mr Firikini called on youths, women and the elders to remain focused on education for the betterment of the region.

“We can only move ahead as Bamba, Ganze and Kilifi in general when we embrace education, focus on our future and engage as leaders. That is the collective efforts needed for the growth of Kilifi county,” he said.
