The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has identified 12 petrol stations found selling adulterated fuel. – By Gerald Gekara.
EPRA, which continuously monitors the quality of petroleum motor fuels on sale, flagged petrol stations in Embu, Busia, Nakuru, Kisii, Meru, Trans Nzoia, Busia Murang’a Wajir, Nyamira and Mandera counties to be non-compliant in ensuring quality.
For instance, a majority of the petrol stations were found selling Diesel or Petrol containing high sulphur content. This in the motoring world, is found to accelerate defective emission control systems.
The petrol stations have since been closed the pumps and fined.
However in an interesting twist, major cities of Nairobi, Kisumu or Mombasa were found to be dealing in quality fuel, a result of a sting operation to nab perpetrators.

4. Nyatieko Filling Station – Kisii
5. BM Kanyakine Filling Station – Meru
6. Jire’s Filling Station – Trans Nzoia
7. Eagle Filling Station – Busia
8. Kuwait Filling Station – Murang’a
9. Northstar Energy Service Station – Wajir
10. Zams Filling Station – Nyamir
11. Quality Energy Service Station – Mandera
12. Mohamed Kosman Service Station – Mandera
