The Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions has left the family of the slain Nairobi Hospital Finance Officer Eric Maigo Stranded in their search for Justice after the Investigating officer informed the Court that the only suspect in police custody Cynthia Lusenga was not involved in the murder of the officer and that she in police custody illegally.
On Monday, September 18, 2023, the ODPP set the wheels of Justice in Eric Maigo’s gruesome murder by arraigning Cynthia Lusenga Andalo whom they alleged to be the primary suspect in the murder in court under a miscellaneous application to detain her for five days to conclude investigations before charging her.
The investigating officer in the matter armed with an affidavit stating that the DCI had reasons to believe Cynthia was involved in the murder.
The officer successfully convinced Hon Bernard Ochoi a Senior Principal Magistrate at Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi that they had compelling reasons to detain Cynthia. The Magistrate in turn allowed the DCI to detain her for five days to conclude investigations.
However, in what appears to be a turn of events today the DCI informed court that after their investigations they established no sufficient grounds to charge or continue detaining her.
“You honour the investigations so far conducted into the matter reveal that Lusenga was not involved in the matter. We seek you close the investigation file against her and she be released unconditionally,” DCI officer Boge told the court.
