CS Mutua Courts More Partnership With European Parliament

CS Foreign Affairs Dr Alfred Mutua discussed partnerships with Kenya during a meeting with the European Parliament Development Committee.

The cabinet secretary commended the EU for continuing to assist in the socio-economic growth of the nation.

He additionally reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to reducing climate change by implementing programs that will ensure sustainable food security through agricultural innovation.

Furthermore, he revealed Kenya’s plans to construct dams, which will be essential for harvesting rainwater for irrigation and other agricultural activities and requested EU’s support for these initiatives as well as for Kenya’s initiative to plant 15 billion trees and regional peace.

He emphasized that Kenya is prepared for trade with the European Union and applauded initiatives that will encourage investments and business in the nation.

The CS also announced that Kenya will host the upcoming Africa Climate Summit in September of 2023 and welcomed EU support and participation at the Conference, which aims to jointly create long-term, international solutions to climate change.
