Kidero Makes Special Request To CJ Koome On His Corruption Case

Former Nairobi Governor, Evans Kidero has written to the Chief Justice seeking to have his case before the anticorruption court in Nairobi is heard by Magistrate Douglas Oguti.

In the matter, Kidero through his Lawyers says that Oguti has heard the case from its start and it is now at the last stage of the prosecution adding that only one witness is remaining to testify in the case.

According to the accused persons, they would like CJ Koome to direct the trial Magistrate to proceed with the case to its conclusion and determination.

Oguti was transferred from Milimani Law Courts to Kisumu. Kidero added that his transfer is likely to affect and delay the case.

” Thus given the very advanced stage of these proceedings, the numerous parties and advocates involved, use of limited judicial resources including time in view of Article 47, we take the opportunity to call upon and humbly request the intervention of the Chief Justice to grant permission and give directions that the trial Magistrate Oguti to conclude and finalize the matter” reads the letter to CJ Koome.

Kidero together with his co-accused persons appeared today before Magistrate Victor Wamukhule for a mention of their case.

However, his lawyers asked for an adjournment to allow the CJ to reply to their request dated 22, February 2023.

The Court directed the matter to be mentioned on April 20, 2023, to confirm CJ Koome’s reply and for further directions.
