A former Kenyatta National Hospital employee has been sentenced to serve one year in prison after she was found guilty of stealing medical drugs from the Hospital.
Magdaline Wambui Nganga was convicted on Friday, May 24, 2024 after the court ruled that the prosecution had proved their case beyond reasonable doubt.
According to the prosecution, Magdaline Wambui Nganga on December 2, 2021, at Kenyatta National Hospital in Upper Hill within Nairobi County, stole seven packets of Nepilet Nebivolon 5mg drugs, two packets of Atacand Candesartan 8mg drugs, 2 packets of AIRTAL 100mg drugs, two packets of Sildenafil 25g and one packet of Lamontrigine Lamictal 100mg all valued at Ksh15,156 the property of Kenyatta National Hospital.
Milimani Chief Magistrate Hon. Susan Shitubi in passing the sentence said that the prosecution demonstrated that the accused person obtained the said drugs by virtue of her employment.
The accused was charged with two counts of theft by servant under section 281 of the penal code and handling stolen property under section 322(1) as read with section 322(2) of the penal code.
The court fined her Ksh 300,000 in default to serve one year in jail.
