A fake tenderpreneur was charged in a Machakos court with scamming a woman of Ksh.10 million.
The accused, Lavingstone Ooko Ochieng, appeared before Chief Magistrate Alfred Kabiru and was charged with collecting money under false pretenses.
According to documents in court, Mr. Ochieng reportedly introduced himself to Alice Kavithwa Musyoki as a Labour officer based at Jogoo House Nairobi.
Ochieng is said to have obtained Ksh.10,407,303 from Musyoki between January and September 2021.
He falsely claimed to be in a position to influence the infrastructure department for a tender to build classrooms, dormitories, and laboratories at Kyethivo Girls Secondary School.
He pleaded not guilty to the two allegations. He will be remanded at Machakos Police Station.
