A serial city fraudster conning people in the name of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has been apprehended and detained.

George Morara Bosire is accused of stealing job-seeker certificates and then selling them altered. According to authorities, many people have been killed.

One such victim is James Mwenda Mwanzia, from whom Bosire stole cash, laptops, and mobile phones while posing as the adviser and chief procurement officer at Gachagua’s office, a phony position he uses to entice his victims.

According to the prosecutor, he is a well-known con artist who deserves to be imprisoned.

Bosire was accused of stealing a Taifa laptop A3 worth Sh60,000, as well as several academic certificates belonging to Mwanzia.

Police on the trail of Bosire’s fraudulent activities claim he defrauded tens of city residents by falsely promising them jobs at the DP’s office.

On August 30, Bosire lured Mwanzia to Gachagua’s office along Harambee Avenue and told him to wait outside the building while he sought opportunities for him at the offices.

The accused took Mwanzia’s bag, which contained his certificates and laptop, on the pretense that he would keep them safe from city thieves.

After a few minutes, the accused called Mwanzia and told him to turn off his phone to avoid being tracked because the area was heavily monitored by CCTV.

He turned off the phone, and moments later, the accused appeared from around the DP’s office and asked to assist Mwanzia in repairing his phone from a nearby shop, only for the accused to vanish with the phone, leaving Mwanzia stranded on Nairobi’s streets.
