The Family Group Eldoret Half Marathon, to be held on Sunday, October 6th 2019, has attracted an increase in sponsorship from marathon participants and companies.
The sponsorship kitty has been boosted by the sister companies under the Family Group Foundation banner that brings together Family Bank Ltd, Daykio Plantations Ltd, Kenya Orient Insurance Ltd, Kenya Orient Life Assurance Ltd and Alpha Africa Asset Managers.
This year’s race will feature three categories; 21 KM for both men and women and a 5 KM family fun race/ corporate race.
The winners of the men’s and women’s 21 KM will bag KES 350,000 each, an increase of KES 100,000 compared to last year’s prize money. The first and second runners-up will take home KES 250,000 and KES 150,000 respectively, which is also a KES 100,000 increase over last year’s prize money.

Through the proceeds of the Marathon, Champions Run for Autism, a cause that we took up in 2016, we have renovated 2 classrooms and accommodated 44 pupils in the Special Needs Programme at Sosiani Primary School,” said Family Group Foundation Manager, Jacqueline Mathaga.
“We hope to attract even more individual and corporate sponsors in this year’s marathon and give an opportunity to children living with autism to access quality education,” she added.
Last year, World Half Marathon record holder Joyciline Jepkosgei proved her prowess to win the Family Group Eldoret Half Marathon while the men’s title was won by Kelvin Kiptum Cheruiyot.
Today’s event marks the official opening of the registration period. Registration is available online via familygroupmarathon.com and all Family Bank branches countrywide at a fee of KES 1,000.
This year’s marathon targets to attract over 3,000 participants. Other sponsors of the Marathon include AAR Insurance, Brainwave Communications Limited, Maisha Water and Eldoret County.
