Angry ferry users have come out guns blazing at the Kenya Ferry Services for negligence after a vehicle plunged into the Indian Ocean, after sliding off one of the ferries.
According to eyewitnesses, the car that was parked inside the ferry, slid off from the ramp and plunged into the ocean as the ferry was making its way past the deep Likoni channel.
Residents claim that the sluggish manner of imoplementing policies is costing the ferry users lives.. ” This is not an isolated case. Many vehicles havwe plunged into this crossing and it is only then that the authorities remember what to do instead of taking measures to avoid them!” One resident lamented.
The Kenya Ferry service is looking to construct a floating brigde across the channel, to ease and reduce the cost of transporting the millions of Mombasa residents who commute using the ferry on a daily basis.
