Family Man sentenced 7 years for possessing a firearm

BY FAITH MUTETE – Mohamed Abdi Erbo, father of five, was arrested and has been sentenced to seven years in jail for being in possession of a fireman and a 9mm inch caliber without firearm certificates.

He was arrested on March 22 along Moyale-Wajir-Merti road on a motorbike loaded with 30kg of bhang and the firearm under the bike’s seat.

The accused later on admitted to riding the motorbike but refused to be the owner of the firearm claiming that he had been framed by the police but did not mention who in particular.

Chief magistrate Samuel Mungai who was in charge of his case dismissed his claim of being framed and the court sentenced him to seven years in prison as the firearm to be surrendered to the state.
