BY LILIAN MUNTHEU – A 25-year-old man, Derick Muchiri from Magutuni village in Maara Sub County has been arrested on suspicion of sodomizing his one-and-half-year old son while his wife was away.
The boy, Lean Murerwa, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Magutuni Sub-county hospital where he was rushed by his parents on Monday.
Tharaka-Nithi County Commissioner, Ms. Beverly Opwora, said that the hospital contacted the police soon after noticing the injuries on the boy and suspected the father of committing the crime.
‘’During the examination is when the nurse noticed that the boy was cold and did further tests on the child.’’ Said Ms. Beverly.
She confirmed that the father was in police custody and was helping with the investigations on the death of the child. Derick Muchiri will soon be arraigned in court.
