Father Feasts The ‘Chicken’ And The ‘Chick’

“Baba alikua akingoja mama akilala anachukua kifunguo anafungua mlango anakuja ananitoa nguo ananilalai anaingiza kitu yake kwa kitu yangu.”

These were the words of a 13-year old Schoolgirl to a police officer who was allegedly raped severally by her stepfather.

Gregory Mwatu Munyao was arraigned in court on June 23, 2021, to face defilement charges and was later released on bond.

According to the prosecution, the father of two ravished the teenager between March and June 18, 2020.

The Investigating officer Corporal Hellen Morgan, based at the children protection unit Kasarani police station testified this morning before Milimani Principal Magistrate Gilbert Shikwe.

In Her testimony, the law enforcer told the court that mid last year she received a complaint from the mother of the minor claiming that the teenage girl had been raped by her stepfather.

As the custom is, the young girl underwent the mandatory medical examination and the doctor indeed confirmed penetration in her vagina.

The court heard that the mother told the I.O that she noticed her daughter could not bend properly a day she asked her to help in hanging the clothes.

“Her mother told me that she washed clothes and asked the victim to help her hang the clothes. She notice that her daughter had difficulties while bending and her stomach was rough. She decided to test for pregnancy and the results were positive,” said Hellen.

The same tests were carried out at Pumwani maternity hospital and the girl was indeed pregnant.

“On engaging the young girl on why she didn’t report the matter she told me that her stepfather used to threaten her never reveal whatever was going on to anybody,” added the I.O

The Kasarani primary school pupil resides with her parents in a single room in Kasarani, where the father is the caretaker of Equity Centre. There is a store adjacent to the single room and that’s where the young girl used to sleep.

“The minor told me that the house would be locked and the keys placed where only the parents knew. The father would later come once the mother was asleep. Since the strike of Covid-19 last year and the schools closed, Munyao would visit the store frequently,” the court heard.

In October last year, the 13-year old gave birth to a set of boy twins at the Pumwani Maternity Hospital. The court ordered a DNA test which proved that Mr. Munyao was the biological father of the twins.

“The accused was not satisfied with the DNA results and the court ordered me to conduct another DNA test. The test was conducted at the government chemistry and the result again proved that Munyao was the biological father of the twins,” added MS Hellen.

The case continues in December 2.
