Kilifi County will continue to work on incentives aimed at attracting more investors to the county.
Kilifi Deputy Governor Flora Chibule said the Gideon Mung’aro led adminstration is keen on increasing the number of investors through several measures like reducing taxes and other amenities.
She was speaking at the Kilifi Central Business District when she officially opened a new branch for bakery and confectionery makers, Fayaz Bakers Limited.
The shop opposite Oloitiptip market is Fayaz’ third outlet in Kilifi county, having opened their first shop in Mtwapa with another shop coming up in Mariakani.
“It’s a good day for us as a county because we are receiving a new investor whose investment in the bakery business is going to create job opportunities for more than 200 Kilifi residents both direct and indirect. This is what we have been advocating as a county, that we have more investors lining up to grab the trading opportunities found in the region,” she said.
Ms Chibule further said that the county has already made a number of plans in ensuring that they provide an enabling environment for investors to grab more investment opportunities.
“This investment has created jobs and we would urge Fayaz to continue expanding to different parts of the region so that they can employ even a bigger number of our people,” she said.
Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung’aro also welcomed the investors,saying that he will also push for more investment opportunities.
Fayaz Bakery Limited CEO Mohamed Fayaz Khamisa said they have a number of expansion plans including opening a new outlet in Mariakani soon.
Mr Fayaz added that there investment in Kilifi County was proving a success and that they were eyeing more investment opportunities in the region.
He added the company has a total of 15 branches countrywide with a leading job capacity of over 500 staff which he says had created opportuniifoe young people.
He said they are also focusing to train youth with low skilled network to have them have diverse knowledgyin cooking,baking and local juice manufacturing so as to empower them economically.
