Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Felix Koskei has urged engineers to embrace innovation, uphold integrity, and drive ethical leadership in the profession.
Speaking during the keynote address at the closing of the 6th Engineering Partnerships Convention held at The Edge in South C, Koskei emphasized the theme “Engineering a Digital World,” which explored green technologies, digital connectivity, and local innovation.
The event drew engineers, policymakers, innovators, and regional stakeholders to map out strategies for a digitally driven, sustainable economy.
Koskei challenged the sector to remain ahead of the curve in the age of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and smart infrastructure, warning that complacency would undermine national progress.
He called for technical excellence, adherence to the code of ethics, and strong regulatory compliance, especially in the wake of rising building collapses.
“The era of poor management, wastage, and corruption is over. We must close the compliance gap and ensure that engineering serves public safety and economic transformation,” said Koskei.
He also emphasized the importance of nurturing young professionals, supporting MSMEs, and creating inclusive pathways into the profession without compromising safety standards.
Among dignitaries present were Eng. Eric Murithi Mugaa, CS for Water, Sanitation and Irrigation; Eng. Erastus Mwongera, Chair of the Engineering Board of Kenya; Eng. Shammah Kiteme, Chair of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya; and Eng. Luka Kimeli, Director representing the PS for Roads.
Delegates from regional and international engineering regulatory bodies were also in attendance.
