Fire Alarm Disrupts Terminal 1C at JKIA, Flights Relocated

A fire alarm incident at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Saturday afternoon temporarily disrupted operations at Terminal 1C, prompting swift action from airport emergency teams.

According to a statement from the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA), the fire alarm system at the Terminal 1C Check-In area was activated at 14:55 hours.

The airport’s Fire and Rescue team promptly responded, although no fire or smoke was reported.

While the alarm was initially silenced, it reactivated multiple times, leading to a decision to temporarily shut down the system for further investigation.

As a safety measure, Terminal 1C was vacated to ensure the security of passengers and staff.

Flights initially scheduled to depart from Terminal 1C were seamlessly redirected to Terminal 1A and Terminal 1B. KAA confirmed that no flight delays or cancellations occurred, and overall airport operations remain normal.

The management has advised passengers to confirm terminal details with their respective airlines as teams work to resolve the system malfunction.

KAA emphasized that passenger safety remains a top priority and thanked travelers for their cooperation during the temporary disruption.

Investigations into the cause of the recurring alarm are ongoing.
