A building in the Nairobi CBD caught fire Tuesday morning, February 1, 2022.
The fire was visible from the fifth floor of the Sunbeam Shopping Complex on Mfangano Street, with heavy smoke billowing from the building’s windows and balcony.
The Nairobi Fire Department, on the other hand, responded quickly after the fire began, but the cause has not yet been determined.
Nairobi County Medical Services was also quick to respond and evacuate people from and around the building.
Curious onlookers gathered to see what was going on, causing a human and traffic snarl, but police dispersed them.
Clouds of smoke blanketed the area for the greater part of the morning, making it difficult for business owners to open their businesses.
