FKF elections Must be held in March – CS Amina

BY ENOCK MUKOMA – In a bid to resolve a long-standing impasse in Kenyan football, sports Cabinet Secretary Ambassador Amina Mohamed has insisted that elections must be held on or before 30 March 2020.

This according to Amina, is in compliance with FIFA demands, whilst adhering to Sports Dispute Tribunal (SDT) rulings that nullified the elections that were held before and in compliance with the laws of Kenya, in particular, the sports act 2013.

This was from the long meeting held by the FKf led by Mwendwa, CS Amina and sports Registrar Rose Wasike.

It is reported that the CS made it clear that this was a local problem that should get a local solution and not Zurich where the three were slated to travel the day before.

Amina reiterated the government’s position and commitment to help all sports organizations, FKF included, to meet all legal requirements as set out in the constitution.

However, sources from the meeting indicate that in accordance to the law, FKF elections will begin at county sports associations and league clubs level.

This will pave way for National elections where the elected officials will vote.

The CS is in touch with all stakeholders to ensure collaborative efforts for the process to succeed.
