Kenya has until midnight 23rd April 2020 to pay former Harambee stars tactician Adel Amrouche or risk being suspended from playing in the Qatar 2022 qualifiers.
Football Kenya Federation through its president Nick Mwendwa maintains that they can’t afford to pay an individual such huge amount and only the government can afford such package
“We were told to pay the money by this Thursday (April 23rd) but we have been unable to. We have written to Fifa and it is unlikely they will listen to us,” explained Mwendwa.
“So, I am telling Kenyans that it is highly likely we will not be competing in the Qatar World Cup qualifiers. This is unfortunate but it is not the end of the world because we have other competitions including the Africa Nations Cup qualification matches for both men and women, plus several youth competitions.”
FKF lost a case at the court of sports Arbitration and even lost two appeals to the former.
The court awarded the Amrouche close to 112 million being compensated for wrongful dismissal.
Sports Cabinet secretary has earlier maintained that the government can not pay an individual such amount terming its irresponsibility by the federation.
She had however asked the federation to pay via other sources or negotiate on a long term payment plan.
Kenya is pooled alongside Rwanda, Uganda, and Mali. The qualifiers are to be played from later this year.
