Football Fans Throng Kasarani as Harambee Stars Arrive for CHAN Quarter-Final

Thousands of football fans are making their way to the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, ahead of the highly anticipated CHAN 2024 quarter-final clash between Harambee Stars and Madagascar.

Excitement is running high as supporters, many draped in Kenyan flags and jerseys, flood the stadium precincts in a show of patriotism and hope for a historic win.

Authorities have set up barricaded entry routes to control the crowds and ensure safety, following earlier concerns about congestion in previous matches.

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) confirmed that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) approved an expanded stadium capacity of 80 percent, allowing nearly 38,000 fans into the venue.

Additional fan zones across Nairobi including Baba Dogo Grounds, Safari Rally Grounds, and Jacaranda are also hosting large screens for those without tickets.

The Harambee Stars squad has already arrived at Kasarani and is undergoing final warm-ups. Their entry into the stadium sparked cheers from early arrivals, with fans chanting and waving flags in anticipation of the evening showdown.

Security has been heightened around the venue, with police and stewards deployed to guide spectators, check tickets, and maintain order.

Kick-off is scheduled later today, with Kenya seeking to advance to the semi-finals of the continental tournament for the first time in history.
