In a significant development, former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya and his wives have been apprehended by officers from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

The arrest, which took place on Wednesday afternoon, marks a significant step in the fight against corruption and economic crimes in Kenya.

Oparanya and his wives are currently undergoing questioning at the EACC Integrity Centre Police Station in Nairobi.

The interrogation pertains to their alleged involvement in corruption and economic crimes that are believed to have occurred during Oparanya’s tenure as the county governor.

The staggering sum of concern is reported to be in excess of Sh1.3 billion. This substantial amount further emphasizes the severity of the allegations and the potential impact of such financial misconduct on public funds and resources.

In a twist to the unfolding events, Oparanya’s legal team, led by Danstan Omari, along with some MPs allied to the Azimio La Umoja faction, have faced barriers in accessing the EACC offices.
