Former Kasarani MP and 21 others charged over CDF funds embezzlement

Former Kasarani  MPand 21 others  were yesterday charged with embezzlement of Sh48.9 million from Kasarani constituency Development Fund Committee (CDF) 11 years ago.

All the 22 acused persons face a common charge of conspiracy to commit an offence by allegedly embezzling Sh48, 907,826 from the Kasarani CDF between 9th May,2008 and December 10,2012.

However, only  eight of the 22 suspects appeared in court to answer to the charges. Ongoro and her husband Ferdinand Masha Kenga and Ruth Kanini Kitonyi were directed to report to the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission(EACC) offices by 1st November.

The suspects who appeared in court were; Silvan Onyango Ogoda, Pamela Achola Mudha, Jecinta Akoth Opondi and Nashoni Okumu Odongo and denied the charges at the Milimani Law Courts.

Ongoro’s lawyer,Jotham Arwa, told the court that she was undergoing treatment and would appear in court to answer to the charges when she returns.

Ruth Kitonyi a former district development officer with the Kasarani CDF told the court through her lawyers ,that she learnt of the case from a news broadcast television on Sunday night.

However EACC lawyer Ruth Yatoe said that when contacted, KItonyi said she would plead to the charges when she returns in January.
