Former MCA Lands Nyamira Speaker Job

Former Manga MCA Enock Okero has been elected speaker of the Nyamira County Assembly.

Okero received 26 votes out of the 35 ballots cast during the election on Monday.

Moffat Teya, the former speaker, received 9 votes in the first round.

After lobbying, the County Assembly speaker race had been reduced to two candidates.

Okero has returned to the assembly after losing the MCA seat to Samuel Ogeto in the August elections.

During his speech, Okero urged all MCAs to work together to ensure that people receive services.

He stated that Nyamira requires all leaders to collaborate, work hard, and make Nyamira a better place.

“We know as residents of Nyamira, this county needs all of us to come together and make it an admirable place,” the new speaker said.

The MCAs are expected to elect a majority leader, a minority leader, and a chief whip.
