The former East Wanga Ward, in Mumias Bugoma County MCA, Zaid Shaban Oteng’o has been arraigned in Court facing fraud charges.
Shaban was arraigned before Magistrate Gilbert Shikwe where the court heard that he fraudulently obtained Ksh 16.7M from Mohamoud on diverse dates between August 2016 and November 2018.
He is accused of fraudulently tricking and influencing Mahamoud Zaid Suleiman to pay him a sum Ksh 16,746,000.
He however denied the charges saying they are politically initiated.
He pleaded with the court to be released him on very lenient bond terms saying he is not a flight since he has been a public officer.
He was released on Ksh 2 million with an alternative cash bail of Ksh 700,000.
