Four people were arrested on Tuesday after images of U.S. President Donald Trump and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein were projected onto Windsor Castle, just hours before Trump’s ceremonial welcome by King Charles.
Trump, who arrived in Britain late Tuesday for an unprecedented second state visit, is due to be greeted with full royal pageantry at Windsor Castle on Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, protesters unfurled a large banner near the castle depicting Trump and Epstein together. Later that evening, multiple images of the two men were projected onto one of the castle’s towers, along with excerpts from a controversial birthday letter Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives recently released.
The letter, allegedly written by Trump to Epstein more than 20 years ago, has been dismissed by the White House as inauthentic.
The projections also included photographs of Epstein’s victims, news clips, and police documents related to the case.
Thames Valley Police confirmed four adults were arrested on suspicion of malicious communications over what they described as an “unauthorised projection” and “public stunt.” The individuals remain in custody.
The resurfacing of Trump’s past ties to Epstein has become a political headache as he campaigns to retain office. While Trump has urged supporters to move on, public interest in Epstein’s crimes, and speculation about who else may have associated with him, remains strong.
Trump and Epstein were known to be friends in the 1990s before falling out years before Epstein’s death in prison in 2019.
The incident comes as British authorities deploy heightened security around Windsor to manage both the elaborate state visit and protests planned by anti-Trump groups.
